Making water safe to drink

In short: Dirty water spreads diarrhoea and cholera. Boil, treat or filter water before drinking it.

What to do

  1. Collect water in a clean container with a lid.
  2. Let dirty water settle, then pour off the clear part.
  3. Boil it for one full minute, or add water treatment tablets or liquid as the label says.
  4. Store it covered and pour it out; do not dip cups in.
